| Welcome to Grandma and Me Soaps I started making soap as a young girl with my grandmother who is now 98-years-old, using the cold process method or as some call it "the old fashioned way". Whereas grandma used oils collected and saved by her friends that contained bacon grease, lard and a variety of shortenings and oils, I have chosen to use organic and high quality vegetable oils, butters and specialty oils. What makes Grandma and Me soaps different from other handmade soaps sold in stores or on the Internet? First of all my soap is affordable for everyone even though each bar is made using organic palm and coconut oils, along with rice bran and olive oils. I don't use fillers such as off the grocery shelf vegetable oils or shortenings. You may not be able to tell the difference between soap made with cheap ingredients or the soap made with high quality oils just by looking, but you will be able to tell when you bathe with it. Most of my soap's are not fancy like some that you see on other sites, but plain simple regular soap that you want to bathe with, not put in a dish for decoration. You will also find some bars made with or containing Shea or mango butters. Each bar of soap is 3.5 to 4 oz each, and placed indivually in a small frosted bag with a label. MILK SOAPS My goat's milk soap is made using fresh goat's milk, never powered. I don't skimp on the milk, but use it as a main liquid ingredient. I also make soap using coconut milk, buttermilk, cows milk and eggnog. AROMATHERAPY SOAP With my aromatherapy soap, I use the finest essential oils, herbs and spices. I love aromatherapy soap and feel that relaxing with a bar of soap scented with essential oils will truly help to calm and repair the damage stress has caused throughout the day. |
